Palette Knife Painting

Beverly Gurganus
36"x48" Oil on Canvas
I am so happy to finally get this painting finished... I am still considering its title.
I was challenged by another FB artist to try to do a palette knife painting. I agreed, but was very hesitant to give up what control I had with a brush. I found at the beginning, I tried to use the knife as a brush and found myself getting frustrated. That sparked my YouTube study of palette knife videos. I then, took to my canvas with the idea of just throw on the paint, have fun, and see what happens. (I tend to over think things.)
Above is the results of my knife :) It definitely screams first, but I am happy enough with it to find a place on my wall for it to live.

  7. It's just lovely! Gives me such a nice feeling, something elusive from my childhood... But I see that you are from Virginia! That could be why! I was born in Richmond and lived there for the first 8 years of my life!! It's kind of like coming home!
Please join me at my history (and sometimes Edward, the cat, blog)! I'd love to have you along!
    Blessings!
    Ann
